Privacy policy
This page describes how friendtips handles data in the version you can install today. It is dated above. If a later version handles data differently, this page is updated before that version ships. See Changes.
friendtips is made by Oops Studio in the Netherlands. For anything on this page, write to hello@oopsstudio.nl.
What we handle
Account details. The app does not ask you to create an account, so we do not hold a name, email address or password for you.
Requests to our server. The app asks our server for the lists of places it shows. Those requests carry no identifier for you or your device. Our server keeps ordinary technical logs, which include the IP address a request came from. We use those logs to keep the service running and to investigate faults.
Data on your phone. The app stores a copy of the lists and place photos on your device so it opens quickly. That copy stays on your phone and is removed when you delete the app.
Measurement. The app does not include analytics or advertising software.
Location. The app does not ask for access to your location.
Email. If you write to us, we receive your message and your email address, and we keep it so we can reply. We do not add you to a mailing list.
Why we handle it
To provide the app and to keep it working. Under the GDPR our basis for handling the technical logs described above is legitimate interest: running a service securely and being able to diagnose faults. We do not use that data for advertising or profiling.
Other companies involved
Supabase hosts our database and API, in Frankfurt, Germany, inside the EU. They handle data on our instructions.
Google. Opening a place for directions takes you out of friendtips and into Google Maps or your browser. From that point Google’s privacy policy applies, not ours.
bunq runs the tip jar. If you tap it you leave the app, and any payment is between you and bunq under their terms. We do not see your card or bank details.
How long we keep things
Server logs are kept only as long as they are useful for security and fault finding, and are then discarded. Email we keep while the conversation is useful, and we delete it if you ask.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Write to hello@oopsstudio.nl and we will answer.
You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
Children
friendtips is not aimed at children.
Changes
We update this page when the way the app handles data changes, and we change the date at the top when we do. The change appears here before the version it describes is released.
